Meet Dr. Rowena Maclin

Dr. Rowena Johnson Maclin is a board-certified Family Practice physician and a native of Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology. Dr. Maclin returned to Fort Worth to start her family and teach in both the public and private school systems. She resigned from teaching in 1995 to attend the University of North Texas Health Science Center - Fort Worth (UNTHSC) where she received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). In 1999, she was accepted into the then UT Southwestern Affiliate, JPS Family Medicine residency program, the largest Family Practice program in the country at that time. Dr. Maclin continued to practice at JPS as an attending physician and later as Medical Director. In 2008, she resigned from JPS to pursue a solo practice which included house calls and wellness programs. This was one of the highlights of her practice thus far.

She advocates strongly for patient education and community outreach, screening for early detection of cancer, chronic diseases and other preventive care. In recent years, antiaging and hormone replacement therapy, integrative medicine and weight management have become a larger role in her practice.

The convenience of telemedicine provides another facet to provide care for a wider range of patients who may be logistically at a disadvantage for a face-to-face visit. Dr. Maclin provides comprehensive healthcare and helps to facilitate healthy lifestyle choices as she would with herself and her loved ones.
